Hurst- David L. James, 66, of Hurst, passed away at 3:23 AM, Friday, February 9, 2007 at Herrin Hospital. David was born in Decatur, IL on August 26, 1940, the son of Robert L. and Pearl (White) James. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his daughter- Darla Dee and Kurt Steger of Belvidere, IL; a son- Rob and Gina James of Davenport, Iowa; three grandsons- Kyle Steger of Detroit, MI; Kane Steger of Belvidere, IL; and Stacy James of Davenport, Iowa; two granddaughters- Kendra Purdy of Davenport, Iowa and Korissa Steger of Belvidere, IL; and one great granddaughter- Madison LeeAnn-Renee Porter, who was born just five hours after Davids passing. Also surviving are two sisters- Carolyn and Steve Stewart of Decatur, IL and Barbara Ann and James Lacroix of Herrin, IL; a brother Ron D. and Barbara James of Decatur, IL; his previous wife and mother to his son- Barb James of Bettendorf, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11- 1pm on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to Boys Town USA; 200 Flanagan Blvd; P.O.B. 6000; Boys Town, NE 68010. Envelopes will be available and also accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
