Danny Neal Camden, age 79, of Marion, Illinois, walked into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Herrin Hospital after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Danny was born October 20, 1943 in Creal Springs, Illinois, a son of Kenneth and Pauline (Deaton) Camden. Danny was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Johns on May 10, 1963 and recently celebrated sixty years of marriage.
Danny loved to work. He worked at Pepsi and was later Plant Manager at RC Cola. He then worked at several coal mines including Harrisburg Coal, Freeman #4, Kerr-McGee and American Coal.
He was a man of great faith and was always willing to help others. Through the years he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader. He currently attended Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church.
Danny's family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Shawnee Senior Living and the doctors, nurses and staff at Herrin Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Sandra L. Camden of Marion; two daughters, Christie L. (Robert) Henson of Marion, and April C. (Rick) Mitter of Marion; five grandchildren, Hannah Henson, Gabe (Macy) Henson, Seth Burkhart, Lily (Cameron) Beers, and Joel Burkhart; and two great-grandchildren, Weston Henson and Hudson Henson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Pauline Camden and one sister, Gail Sullivan and his father and mother in-law Arthur and Sarah Johns.
Visitation will be Friday, May 19th, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, 1:00 PM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Colson and Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Holmes Cemetery in Creal Springs.
Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Samaritans Purse.
