Dale Morris

Dale Morris, age 89, of Herrin, Illinois, away Friday, May 27, 2022 at Reflections Memory Care in Herrin, Illinois.

Dale was born October 31, 1932 in West Frankfort, Illinois a son of Elijah and Flossie (Crain)  Morris.  Dale grew up in Freeman Spur and graduated Herrin High School.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War with the Military Police.  After his service he attended University of Illinois and earned a Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering.  He married Joyce Ann Campbell on June 05, 1964 in Herrin. He worked for Westinghouse in Pennsylvania, then returned home and worked at Olin.  He then started working at Norge, from which he retired.  Dale was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing and precision 22 shooting.  Dale loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.  Dale was a member of Herrin VFW, Herrin American Legion, NRA, Franklin County Golf Club and University of Illinois Alumni Association.  He attended the Heritage Fellowship Church in Johnston City, IL.      

He is survived by two children, Melody (John) Kerley of Herrin, IL and Jeff (Denel) Morris of Herrin, IL; five grandchildren, Autumn (JR) Dibeck, Brooke Banks, Kylie DeJaynes, Taylor Morris, and Zoey Morris; and his six Great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his spouse Joyce A. Morris; one infant son, Brian Morris; his parents, Elijah and Flossie Morris; and two siblings, Marion Morris and Leon "Bo" Morris.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31st, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 11:00 AM at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Gayland Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
