Cathy Rollo Earnhart

Cathy Rollo Earnhart, age 74, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away early Sunday morning, May 22, 2022 at her home in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Cathy was born November 28, 1947 in Carbondale, Illinois, a daughter of James and Mildred (Hampton) Rollo.

She is survived by her son, Nathan Earnhart and wife April of Benton; grandson Jackson Earnhart of Benton; daughter-in-law Nikki Earnhart of Springfield; sister Jami Knight of Summerville, South Carolina; numerous other relatives and a large host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Jason Dodd Earnhart.

Cathy grew up in Zeigler, where she made many friends and fond memories. She attended Southern Illinois University's VTI where she studied commercial art before moving to Champaign, while working at the University of Illinois. After taking time off to raise her family on a small Union County farm, she book ended her career with time at the U of I Extension service and finally at SIU where she was a graduate secretary in the history department among other roles.

Cathy was a loving mother and proud grandma. She never failed to send unique gifts and cards for birthdays and holidays. Her unpredictable sense of humor will be missed. She was an accomplished artist who loved to create through all artistic mediums. Over the years, she also shared her heart and home with many felines. She was a proud "cat lady".

There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite local animal charity. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
