Carrie L. Tripp, 82, of Marion, went home to her Lord and savior on March 19, 2017 at 6:50 am at home with her family beside her.
Carrie was born March 23, 1934 in Hamilton County to Hallie Hungate and Gwen (Clark) Hungate-Arnold. She married Lawrence C. Tripp on June 9, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas. They shared 59 years together; he preceded her in death on September 21, 2009.
Carrie worked for Dr. Charles Spears at the Marion Animal Hospital and later worked for Central Hospital for Animals, after retiring she set out for Certification in Electrolysis and opened up her own business in her home. Carrie also served on the VFW Post #1301 Ladies Auxiliary from 1978 – 1979. She was a very talented seamstress and loved to crochet.
She is survived by three daughters – Connie Hope of Johnston City, Cathy McCree and husband Paul of Marion, Kimberly Lingle and husband Kenny of Herrin, Son-in-law – Bob Cooper of Marion. One brother Herbert Hungate of Pekin, Illinois, twelve grandchildren – Billy Hope and wife Cheryl of Thompsonville, Cory Hope of Johnston City, Julie Newell and husband Sean of Johnston City, Jonathan McCree and wife Amber of Kentucky, Quinton McCree of Marion, Whitney McCree of Marion, Ryan Cooper and wife Sherry of North Carolina, Kelli (Cooper) Bathon and husband Jason of Kentucky, Jodi (Cooper) Kelly and husband Jeremy of Johnston City. Joshua Lingle and wife Jaime of Carterville, Jacob Lingle and wife Julie and Lindsey Lingle and Fiancé Kyle King of Herrin. Twenty-eight great grandchildren – Justine Hart, Marissa & McKenna Cooper, Kaci, Leah, Eliza & Kathlyn Bathon, Emma & Zoie Tolbert, Lillianna, Eden, Lola & Penelope Brauner, Brooklynn & Jaxson Tripp Hope, Caleb, Hope, Hallie & William Newell, Sawyer & Rowan McCree, Neve, Nora, Silas, Otto, Jed, Bo & June Lingle. Two great great grandchildren – Gaven & Piper Hart, several nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her Parents, Husband – Lawrence C. Tripp, Daughter – Ladonna Cooper, Son-in-law – Bill Hope, Step-father – Victor Arnold, three Sisters – Marie Coliver, Vera Hart, Maxine Parks and Brother – Bob Hungate.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 12 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
