Carol McKemie

Herrin- Emma “Carol” McKemie, 78, of Herrin, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 3:10 PM, Monday, February 27, 2017 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Carol was born on January 22, 1939 in West Frankfort to Clarence and Pauline (Rice) McKemie. She was retired from the State of Illinois in Springfield, where she worked and lived for thirty years until she moved to Herrin in 2005. Carol was a member and faithfully attended the First Christian Church in Herrin. She enjoyed spending time with her close friends and especially with her nieces and nephews. Carol will be greatly missed, but her family and friends take great comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven with loved ones who have gone before. Survivors include- Sister- Doris McBride and husband Charles of Carbondale 5 Nephews: Johnnie McBride of Carbondale David McBride of Carbondale Guy McKemie of Thompsonville Ellis Claussen of West Frankfort Donald Morris of Illinois 2 Nieces: Paula Newcomb of Benton Kelly Sanders of Carbondale Aunt- Albina Rice of Ziegler Several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers- Sylvan and Wendall McKemie, sister- Joyce Morris, nephew- Chris Claussen and one great nephew- Ethan McBride. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Derek Levins will officiate. Burial will follow at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
