Bonnie (Hewlett) Shoemake, age 73, of Herrin, Illinois passed away in her home the morning of Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Bonnie was born January 15th, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Altamont "Fish" and Mary (Laughlin) "Duckie" Hewlett.

Bonnie graduated from Herrin High school and married her husband Andy Shoemake on March 10, 1981. She then went on to obtain an Accounting Degree in 1985 and an associate Nursing Degree in 1989 from John A. Logan. She obtained her Bachelors degree in 2010 from the University of Phoenix.

She was also involved in numerous clubs and committees and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, Illinois.

Bonnie was known for many things, but what stood out the most was her willingness to help and give second chances. Bonnie's will was as strong as steel and she was ready to lend her determination to those who were feeling weak. She led by example, one we should strive to follow. She was an avid contributor to Herrin Animal Control and Herrin City Cemetery Committee.
