Bernard Everett Kelsey

Bernard Everett Kelsey, 104, of Glenview formerly of Marion, passed away on February 12, 2018 at 4:02 am at The Abington of Glenview. Bernard was born August 12, 1913 in Desloge, Missouri the son of Alexander and Bertha (Monroe) Kelsey. He married Katherine Funk in January, 1939 at City Hall downtown Chicago and together they shared over 53 years of marriage until her death on March 12, 1992. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a member of the Marion Masonic Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M.  Even after relocating to Glenview in 1955 Bernard enjoyed traveling to Marion for all events at the Masonic Lodge.  He was a manager of the produce department for a grocery store. Survivors include his: Five children; Berna Kay Bachner (Donald) of Kansas Saundra Lee Daugherity of Shelbyville Judith Lederer (Dennis) of Algonquin Patricia Kelsey of Antioch Michael Kelsey of Lake Villa 18 Grandchildren 35 Great Grandchildren 2 Great Great Grandchildren Sister – Rosemary Doerner of Florida Sister – Dorothy “Dottie” Odum-Walker of Marion Several nieces, nephews and extended family Preceded by his Parents, Wife – Katherine Kelsey, Grandchild – Devin Daugherity, 5 Brothers and 1 Sister Funeral services will be Monday, February 19, 2018 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Masonic services will be presented at 11:30 am by members of the Marion Masonic Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M.
