Barbara Jean Szablewski

Herrin- Barbara Jean Szablewski, age 81, of Herrin, passed away at 1:51pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at West Side Care Center in West Frankfort. Barbara was born in Freeman Spur on November 5, 1935, the daughter of Harry and Margaret Stanley. She married Donald Paul Szablewski in Chicago on February 2, 1974. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1999. Barbara was a homemaker, making her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Survivors include- Son- Mike and Kim Murray of Johnston City Son- Bryan and Stephanie Szablewski of Zeigler Son- Chris and Terri Szablewski of Dupo Son- Keith and Jodi Szablewski of Johnston City Daughter- Donna and Randy Riddle of West Frankfort Nine Grandchildren Two Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. As per her wishes, Mrs. Szablewski will be cremated. The family will hold private graveside services at a later date, when she will be inurned next to her husband at Herrin City Cemetery.  Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
