Alma M. Gulley-Scarlett

Marion- Alma M. Gulley-Scarlett, 91, of Marion, passed away at 10:48 PM, Monday, December 26, 2016 at her home. Alma was born on June 26, 1925 in Jefferson County to Harley and Bertha (Phelps) Chambliss.  She married Charles Gulley on January 31, 1942 in Jackson, TN.  He preceded her in death on October 21, 1998.  Later, she married Earl Scarlett on February 19, 2009 in Paducah, KY.  He survives of Marion. She retired from the State of Illinois where she worked as an outreach worker in Williamson County.  Prior to that, she worked at Children and Family Services in Williamson County. She was of Baptist faith and loved the Lord.  She enjoyed riding her Tennessee Walking horses and spending time outdoors camping.  Her grandchildren were her greatest thrill.  Survivors include- Husband- Earl Scarlett of Marion Daughter- Carolyn Ingram of Marion Daughter- Charlene Taylor and husband Richard of Carterville Nine Grandchilden Twenty Great Grandchildren Six Great Great Grandchildren One Great Great Great Grandchild Brother- Harley E. Chambliss of Mt. Vernon Brother- Jack Chambliss of Mt. Vernon Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Tom Gulley and sisters- Sharon Hibbs and Yvonne Cates. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Whiteash Cemetery.  Rev. Josh Wehrmeier will officiate.  Funeral arrangements were made through Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.  Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N.
