Rosetta S. Smothers, 94, of Marion, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 9 am at Integrity Healthcare of Marion.

Rosetta was born August 5, 1926 in Marion the daughter of Earl and Edna (Fry) Gibbons.  She married Vernon L. “Jack” Smothers in Osceola, Arkansas and he preceded her in death in November 1992.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed being at home seeing to the needs of her family and home.

She is survived by her:

Son – Jack and Pam Smothers

Grandson – Clint and Susan Smothers

Granddaughter – Shara Peyton

Great grandchildren – Savana Smothers and Boston Peyton

Brother – Glen and Sandra Gibbons

Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Granddaughter – Shelly Bonney, Great Granddaughter – KayLynn Bonney, Sisters – Sybil Chamness, Virginia Powell and Brothers – Ray Gibbons, Bob Gibbons, Rod Gibbons and Billy Gibbons

Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11 am at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating.  Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Following the service the family will celebrate Rosetta’s life at Mackie’s Pizza, they would like to invite you to join them there.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
