Shirley J. Martin, age 88, of Marion, passed away at 8:20am on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Fifth Season Residential Assisted Living Center in Marion.
Shirley was born in Williamson County on August 25, 1932, the daughter of Harley and Edith (Springhart) Brush. She married Dennis McCree in Carterville in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Joe Byrne in 1976 in Williamson County. He preceded her in death in 1995. In 1996, she married L.G. Martin in Harrisburg. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Prior to her retirement, she had been a sewing teacher at Singer Sewing Machine Company. Shirley had also worked at the Marion V.A. Medical Center.
Survivors include her son- Dennis Laughten McCree of Marion
Son-in-law- Ed Rodriguez of Marion
Daughter-in-law- Connie McCree of Marion
Three Grandchildren- Laughton McCree of Metropolis
Nathan Rodriguez of Marion
Erin McCree of Marion
Sister- Myrna and Tom Litton of Marion
She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, daughter- Natalie Rodriguez, son- Frank McCree, two sisters- Ina Absher and Maxine Klope, and one brother- Harley Brush, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.
