Helen L. Soldner, age 90, of Marion, passed away at 5:42am on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Helia Healthcare of Energy.

Helen was born in Marion on February 21, 1930, the daughter of Louis E. and Aurelia Anna (Fry) Broeking.  She married Wilbert John Soldner in Marion on September 16, 1950.  He preceded her in death on September 6, 2011. Together, they shared more than 60 years of marriage.

Helen attended Marion City Schools, graduating in 1947.  She was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ.  Prior to her retirement, Helen had worked as a book keeper for Guy Chicon & Co. in Marion.

She is survived by:

Two sons and daughter-in-laws- George and Cathy Soldner of Marion

     John and Robyn Soldner of Oakton, Virginia

Five grandchildren- Matt Soldner and Andrew Soldner of Marion

     Colin (Taylor) Soldner of Ocathe, Kansas

     Christine (Jack) Rosenberg of Valley Village, California

     Taylor Soldner of Denver, Colorado

Two brothers- Bob and Kay Broeking of Marion

     Kenny and Carol Broeking of Oreana, IL

One sister-in-law- Luetta Broeking of Marion

Two Special Nieces- Linda Fietsam and Sharon Wilson

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Wilbert, brother- Donald Broeking, sister-Dorothy Whitehead, and infant brother- Louis Broeking, Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Rev. John Holst officiating. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.  Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.

    We have a lot of wonderful memories of visiting with Aunt Helen over the decades. She was always such fun to be around, to listen to, and to converse with. She was a special lady. Rest in peace.
