I’m stunned. Had lunch with him on the 18th, as we had most Wednesdays for over 20 years. …He was incredibly generous with his help to me over the years at the University, both before he retired and after he came back.

Bill has been a good friend since our time together at SIU, he will be deeply missed. Our lunch group, which he has been a part of for so many years, will never be the same. And everyone in the several camera clubs he belonged to will miss his contributions as well. Bill was a truly good person and had so much to give in everything he did. His passing is such a loss to all of us. My condolences to his wife and family.

    To Bill’s family,
Paul & I send our deepest sympathy. We had great appreciation for Bill. We are away from the area and cannot regrettably attend Bill’s funeral. He was the perfect man to serve Herrin’s public library at the time of transition to the computer age. How lucky we were! He gave a great service to his community, always generous with his time and sharing his expertise. He was special in many ways, and we know you, Judy, and your family will miss him so, as will his library friends. Paul & Susan Murphy

We are deeply saddened to hear of our cousin Bill’s passing. I have many wonderful childhood memories of spending time with Bill and his parents on their farm in Dix and their home in MTV. I was always so grateful that Bill stayed in touch over the years. He made several trips to Texas and was always here for Mother’s special occasions. Praying for God’s strength and comfort for you Judy and your family.

    Hi Judy,Jill, Erin, and Jeff,

I was shocked and saddened to learn of my cousin Bill’s passing. His parents were icons to me and he was the link. I had a lot of respect for Bill. He was a man of “good character”. Through the years he always made an effort to stay in touch . Whenever we made a trip to Southern Illinois he made it a point to visit us. We were all touched and appreciative when he made the trip to Texas for Moms funeral. You all have my most sincere sympathy.
