Hurst- Betty Lou Rutherford, age 83, of Hurst, passed away at 11:15am on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Friendship Manor in Nashville, IL.

Betty was born in Bush on October 2, 1933, the daughter of Ralph and Beulah (Holland) Dryden. She married John R. Rutherford in Herrin in January of 1954. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1993.

Mrs. Rutherford was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had retired from Allen Industries.

Survivors include her son- John Rutherford of Johnston City

Daughter- Paula and Gordon Schaubert of Smithton

Daughter- Michelle Rutherford of Columbia

Eight Grandchildren

Four Great Grandchildren

Sister- Cleta Stapleton of Marion

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Kenneth Dryden, and sister- June Brandon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Bill Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
