    Mike;
    I read Nels’ obituary in this morning’s Champaign paper. Brought back a lot of good memories of Alvin and elementary school and the field behind the Rasmussens’ house. Like my dad, Nels made it to 87 and had a fulfilling and happy life.
    Can not ask for more than that. Best regards,
    Ray

    My condolences to the Rasmussen family. I had many enjoyable chats with Nels when were neighbors in Alvin. A very quiet and honorable man.

    I so much enjoyed a story Peter recounted to me today about Nels’ reaction to some of Peter’s racier community theater dialog in years gone by. Knowing Peter as I do, I feel I now know Nels just a bit better, and it really is a marvelous thing to see how the fine qualities of the parent can live on in children and grandchildren — as they so clearly do in your fine family. I know I am very lucky to experience it all through knowing Peter, and I realize what a void Nels’ death leaves in so many lives….

    Dear Friend Nels; Always remember meeting you the very first day I joined Teepak in Danville.

    So very glad we had been able to maintain that excellent friendship for all the time that followed, although in recent years I am sometimes so far away . . . but we’d always found time to sit down to share a cup of coffee and good memories whenever we could.

    You and your lovely family are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Blessing, LOVE & Peace
