Energy- Gertrude L. Ernst, age 96, of Energy, passed away at 4:10pm on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Helia Healthcare of Energy.

Gertrude was born in Leipzig, Germany on January 29, 1918, the daughter of Paul Rudolph and Emma Pauline (Henning) Hansel. She married Bernard Joseph Ernst. He preceded her in death.

As per her wishes, her body will be donated to Southern Illinois University - School of Medicine. No services will be held at this time. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
