Hazel V. Chamness

Hazel V. Chamness, age 96, of Marion, passed away at 9:02pm on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Herrin Hospital.  Hazel was born in Williamson County on May 22, 1919, the daughter of Everett Malcolm and Virtle (Schaubert) Rich. She married Clay Maxwell Chamness in Missouri in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1982.  Mrs. Chamness was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was of Baptist faith. Hazel enjoyed cooking and doing crafts, but her passion in life was caring for her family.   Survivors include- Son- Larry and Margaret Chamness of Dexter, MO Son- Ron and Judy Chamness of Marion Three Grandchildren- Greg Drury of Marion      Julie and Danny Beasley of Ecuador      Michael and Johanna Chamness of Crab Orchard Six Great Grandchildren- Cecile and Dustin Hill      Jacob and Clayton Chamness      Amber Ray      Jared Beasley One Great Great Granddaughter- Charlotte Hadcroft Three Brothers- Jim and Carol Rich of Berkeley, IL      Lloyd Rich of Marion      Floyd and Joyce Rich of Creal Springs Sister- Loretta Sue Rich of Marion  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson- Jason Chamness, and seven brothers- Paul, Charles, Erskine, Roy, Harold, Elmer, and Everett Rich, Jr.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.  For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Fisher House. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N. Market Street; Marion, IL 62959.
