Marion-Bobby D. Kirby, 80, passed away at 12:59 pm on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Bobby was born October 27, 1932 in Goreville to Lester Noel and Stella Mae (Lewis) Kirby. He married the love of his life, Jeanette Cox, on June 22, 1963 in St. Charles, Illinois. She survives of Goreville.

Bobby retired as an operating engineer from the Amex Coal Mine. He was a master mason in the Saline Lodge 339 for over fifty years. He was a member of the Medina Shrine in Chicago. Bobby served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Bobby enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Son-Roland and Janet Kirby of Cleveland, Tennessee

Son-Raymond and Jenn Kirby of TegaCay, South Carolina

Step brother-Bobby Espland

Step brother-Gary Patrick

Step sister-Sharon Doryan

Several nieces and nephews

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Harold Kirby, Gary Kirby and Bill Kirby and sister, Pauline Billingsley

Funeral services will be on Friday, July 12 at 11 am at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Dr. Glenn Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Cana Cemetery in Goreville with military rights performed by the American Legion, VFW and National Guard members. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at Blue Funeral/ PO Box 411/ Marion, IL 62959.
