Herrin- Rusty Leon Wagley, Sr., age 70, of Herrin, passed away at 3:20am on Friday, July 16, 2021 at his home in Herrin.
Rusty was born in Herrin on January 25, 1951, the son of Earl Lavern and Elma Tessie (McGuire) Wagley. He married Joy Layuna Gossage in Herrin on December 2, 1967. Together, they have shared more than fifty-three years of marriage.
Rusty had worked in the coal mines and also at Norge. He had worked mostly as a roofer and was the owner of RW and Sons Roofing Company.
Prior to his retirement, Rusty earned his living as a roofer.

Son- Shawn Wagley and fiancé Patty Hampton of Carterville
Son- Louis Wagley, Sr. and wife Rachel of Herrin
Son- Rusty Wagley, Jr. and Carrie Smith of Herrin
Daughter-in-law- Tracy Wagley
Grandkids- Shawna and Aaron, Tori and Dylan, Louis Jr, Destinee, Dalton, Hunter and Amiyah, Jade, Jessie, and Juniper
Great Grandkids- Kennedy, Evelynn, Lily Ann, Madysyn, Roman, Xzayver, Daylon, Jakyia, Savanna, Keagan, Braxzten, Bricyn, and Tru
Two Brothers- Freddie and Red
Three sisters- Brenda, Valida, and Jeannie
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Bud and Carl Wagley, and one sister- Shirley.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
