Herrin- Marian Harriet Byrne, age 93, of Herrin, passed away at 8:44am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. 

Marian was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Carpenter) Goldschmidt.  She married Vincent Rene Byrne, Jr. in St. Louis on September 4, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2015. 

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.

Survivors include:

Son- Vincent R. Byrne III (Nancy) of Loveland, CO

Son- Patrick J.  Byrne (Debbie) of Jamul, CA

Son- Timothy M. Byrne (Sandy) of Leary, GA

Daughter- Kathleen Hileman (Roger) of Herrin, IL

Son- Michael J. Byrne (Debbie) of Marion, IL

Daughter- Maureen Cameron (Jim) of Gulf Breeze, FL

Son- Daniel C. Byrne (LeeAnn) of Marion, IL

Son- James R. Byrne (Gladys) of Jupiter, FL

22 Grandchildren

38 Great Grandchildren and two on the way 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister- Helen Stehly.

Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.  The family will hold a private celebration of her life. 

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
