Kaye Miller

Herrin- Kaye Miller, age 69, of Herrin, passed away at 2:47pm on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital.

Eula Kaye was born on November 3, 1951, the daughter of Shirley Mae (Boyt-Pike) and William Robert “Bob” Winkler. She married her best friend, William “Bill” Miller at the Herrin First Baptist Church on March 21, 1970. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2003.  Kaye and her husband, Bill, had both graduated in the class of 1969. She always talked fondly about how amazing her classmates were. She life was filled with many cherished memories.

Kay had worked in the gift department at Crack Barrel. She loved her coworkers and all of her special customers.

She leaves behind a family that will miss her dearly-

Daughter-Tracy Lynn Miller of Herrin and her children Alex Crutcher and Christian Brandon and his girlfriend Bailey Bullock

She also leaves behind three great grandchildren- Westley, Logan, and Dom

Daughter- Nikki & Michael Rishel of DeSoto and their children Brandon Rishel and his girlfriend Mati Harsy and Hunter and Erin Rishel

Sister- Tammie Winkler of Herrin and her two children Lauren Kae Ramsey and Clayton Lacey
Many special nieces, nephews, and cousins including Brad Donahue and his family

Her very special friend- Vicki and many close friends, too numerous to mention

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers- Robert and Michael Winkler.

As per her wishes, Kay will be cremated. The family will hold private memorial services at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.

As a charity that was near and dear to her heart, memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.

    As one of the Heights kids and southside boys Kaye was a lifelong friend. To say she was a live wire would be an understatement. You see Kaye did not come with a filter yet that was a blessing.     So many wonderful memories shared with such an amazing woman. She loved her husband Bill and family with zeal. Her devotion to Bill during his long illness was inspiring to watch as we shared the illness of our husbands at the same time.
