James (Jimmy) Pierce, 55, born September 23, 1965 passed away peacefully at his Murphysboro home on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Jimmy was born and raised in Bush, Illinois.

Jimmy was a well-known tattoo artist and worked for Murphysboro township.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Larry E. Pierce of Herrin, Illinois; step-father, Carl Tweedy of Bush; grandparents, Henry (Peck) and Anna Holland of Bush, Jake Pierce of Granite City, Alice Pierce Hunt of Bush; step-son, Rusty McCaleb; half-brother, Larry Pierce Jr.; nephew, Brent Holland.

He is survived by his wife, (Virginia) Jenny Pierce; sons, Quentin Caine Hendricks, Nathan McFarland; step-son, Bruce (Cindy) McCaleb, Larry McCaleb; five grandchildren; his fur babies, Deo and Reese’s; mother, Jacqueline Tweedy of Bush; sister, Barbara (Jimmy) Holland of Vienna (Bush); brothers, Danny Darling (Pierce) of Hart Michigan, Brian (Tammy) Pierce of Makanda, Carl Tweedy Jr. of Bush; close nieces and nephews, Jeremy Holland of Bush, Jake Holland serving at Fort Benning, Jordan Barcellos, Chelsey Brewer, Brian Pierce Jr., Alexis (Sidro) Castro and many other close family members and friends who will greatly miss him.

He had lots of dear friends who knew him only as “Tattoo Jimmy”. Jimmy always told us he had six great loves, his wife, his family his dogs, his tattoos and his Jesus. We will miss this kindhearted man.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Tommy Loyd officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the family, and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to /201 S. 13th Street, Herrin, Illinois 62948/.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing and the wearing of masks will be required.
