Connie Sue Bissey, age 70, of Herrin passed away at 11:50 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Herrin Hospital.

Connie was born in Herrin on March 27, 1951, the daughter of Louis Angelo and Margaret June (Harris) Absher. She married John Robert Bissey on March 31, 1973 at the 1st Baptist Church in Energy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2019.

Survivors include:

Son- Justin Bissey of Herrin, Illinois

Daughter- Sara Wenzel of Schiller Park, Illinois

Five grandchildren-

            Leah Bissey of Carterville, Illinois

            Lila Wenzel of Schiller Park, Illinois

            Justin Keith Bissey II of Granite City, Illinois

            Bennett Madej of Schiller Park, Illinois

            Drew Madej of Schiller Park, Illinois

Two Brothers- Frank and Tiny Absher of Fort Valley, Georgia

     Michael and Dorothy Absher of Johnston City

Two Sisters- Marie and Sam Campanella of Energy

     Paula and Robert “Bob” Oldani of Henderson, KY

Sister-in-law- Janet and Ron Leist of Olney, Illinois

Brother-in-law- Norman and Dena Bissey of Olney, Illinois

Several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- John, mother-in-law and father-in-law- Kenneth and Ada Bell Bissey, brother- Keith Absher, sister- Judy Workman, brother- Ronald Absher, sister- Jewel Hoffard, and brother- Emmett Absher.

Joint memorial services to celebrate the lives of Connie and John will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
