Shelbey Jean (Miner) Norman, age 79, of Marion, passed away at 11:55pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Herrin Hospital.

Shelbey was born in Marion on May 27, 1940, the daughter of Charles Herbert and Velda Mae (Bloodworth) Miner. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for Wal-Mart.

Shelbey loved to go dancing and play bingo. She enjoyed making goodies for her family. She would share her last penny with anyone in need. She never drove except that one time she took off a front porch. Shelbey lived the last 3 years of her life at The Voyage in Marion. She enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and bible study. She now joins her parents, sister, and daughter in heaven. We are sure that she is dancing for Jesus.

I had the privilege of working with Shelbey for many years at Buds. She was like a second mother to me. She was always there to give me advice. And on many occasions she would feed me…usually her great spaghetti. I couldn’t tell you how many movies we went to see together. She had such a great laugh! Sadly I lost touch with her in the last ten years or so. But I will always remember her as a kind and caring friend. My prayers to the family.
