Jon L. Patton, 82, of Marion, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 1:15 am at his home.
Jon was born July 14, 1938 the only child of Inman L. and Anna Ruth (Williams) Patton in Gallatin County, Illinois. He married Dorothy Jane Schofield on March 4, 1961 in Evansville, Indiana and together they shared over 45 years of marriage until her death on January 27, 2007.
He served as an Army Reservist during the Vietnam War. Jon had a long career in lending which began with Credit Thrift. He retired from Banterra Bank after 25 years’ service which began in 1976 for Bank of Egypt. He started as an installment loan officer and retired as executive vice president. Jon handled the majority of the commercial loans.
Jon was a 32-degree Mason and his memberships included the Marion Masonic Lodge #8 A.F. & A. M., the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Jerusalem Dorcas Shrine #61 and Hadi Shriners of Evansville, Indiana. He was also a member of Royal Arch in Marion, the Council in Herrin, the Knights Templar in Carbondale and the Eastern Star.

Son – Rodney W. (Shea) Patton of Marion

Daughter-in-law – Melanie Patton
Step grandchild – Carmen Wedding
Longtime friend and companion – Virginia “Ginny” Hopkins of Marion Fur buddy- beloved dog “Chico”
Preceded by his Parents, wife – Dorothy Patton, son – Mark Patton, granddaughter – Kaleigh Jane Patton
Funeral services will be Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 am – 1 pm at the funeral home. Mason rites will be accorded.
For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.

Jon was a wonderful co-worker. We got into some deep discussions concerning banking. Was a wonderful man and co-worker. Blessings and comfort to all of his family.
