After years of teaching for the Benton School District and Marion Junior High School, Ilda became the special education supervisor at the Williamson County Special Education District.

Ms. Powell was a member of the Marion First United Methodist Church, where she continued her love of teaching, serving as a fourth grade Sunday School teacher.

Ilda lived life to the fullest and possessed a true competitive spirit, inner-youth, and even athletic prowess. She enjoyed spending her winters in Cape Coral, Florida and created fond memories from her extensive travels all over the world. Ilda was a proud fan of baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, however, her favorite player remained Pete Rose. She had a passion for history, wildlife, musicals, and shopping trips for her grandchildren.

Always generous to a fault, Ilda was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Nick, Jaime, and family - I am truly saddened by the news of your mother’s passing. She was such a vital and strong woman and a force to be reckoned with if it involved her family and her work. All the wonderful times and memories will be a source of comfort in the days and years to come. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Words fail to express the depth of my love for this incredible woman. The lessons she taught me as I worked in her garden far surpassed how to properly plant a tulip bulb. She taught me to be generous with my time, resources, and most importantly love. She was a rock and a trusted friend. Without her smile and her love, this world is less. My consolation is the knowledge that she is no longer in pain, that she is challenging Jacob to a wrestling match, and will be with me every step of this Camino. My deepest, most heartfelt sympathy to her dear and beloved family. For as much as I will miss her, I know her loss is greater by far for those blessed to be called her family. All my love, Scotty
