Energy- Shirley Mae Allen, age 78, of Energy, passed away at 7:55am on Friday, March 28, 2014 at her home.
Shirley was born in Herrin on May 31, 1935, the daughter of George and Ella Mae (Payne) Nicks. She married Roger Allen in St. Charles on September 19, 1953, He preceded her in death on September 23, 2004.
Mrs. Allen had a very strong love and faith for the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Son- Brian and Sharon Allen of Oswego
Daughter- Tammy and Louie Childers of Winfield
Daughter- Barbara and Steve Hamilton of Batavia

Beloved Cats- Wompy and Edie
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons- Bruce and Steven Allen, and an infant sister- Jacqueline Nicks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at EgyptianMemorialGardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Monday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
