Genevieve G. Peugh, 101, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 12:02 pm at Herrin Hospital.

Genevieve was born in Williamson County on August 25, 1913; she was raised by her Aunt and Uncle – George and Edda St. John, following the death of her parents. She married Paul D. Norman who preceded her in death in 1979 and she then later married Launius Peugh who also preceded her in death.

She was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Marion, the Marion VFW Auxiliary and the White Shrine and Amaranth. She had previously run Genevieve’s Treasures in Marion and an upholstery shop.

Survivors include her;
Son – George Norman and wife Shirley of Marion
Five grandchildren
Numerous great and great great grandchildren
Several stepchildren and step grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews

Preceded by her Parents, Husbands, Daughter – Beverly Votaw, Granddaughter – Leslie G. Norman, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Krantz officiating. Burial will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 11 am – 1 pm at the funeral home.

    We were her neighbors on Cedar Lane for eight years….and since then, she has had a special place in our hearts. My kids call her “Their Marion grandma”. And we had the honor of calling her our friend. We loved her dearly and her memory will be treasured forever.
