Herrin- Geraldine Griffith-Lefler, age 80, of Herrin, passed away at 4:47pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Geraldine was born in Carterville on August 16, 1933, the daughter of Ernest and Eva (Edwards) Brasher. She married William D. Griffith in Herrin on May 12, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1995. She later married Raymond Lefler in Herrin on May 12, 2001. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2002.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law- Rev. Terry and Ramona Griffith of Herrin

Son and daughter-in-law- Rev. John and Charlene Griffith of Terre Haute, Indiana

Daughter-in-law- Mary Griffith of Herrin

Six Grandchildren- David Kyle and Jennifer Griffith of Herrin

Wonderful caregiver whom the family is so thankful- Deb Olson of Columbus, Ohio

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son- William David Griffith; three brothers- Ernest, John “Pud”, and Sam Brasher; and sister- Mary Duiguid.

A celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin with Rev. Douglas Hughes and Rev. Jeffrey Harpole officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30pm-7:00pm on Thursday evening at the church. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Rev. Donald Maas, Geraldine’s former pastor, will officiate. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.
