Herrin- Lillian Muriel Prather, 96, of Herrin, passed away at 3:25 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at HerrinHospital.

Lillian was born on September 17, 1917 in McClure, IL to Henry and Eva Grace (Mitchell) Jacobs. She married R. H. Prather in 1942 and he preceded her in death in October of 1959.

She worked for many years at Smoler Brothers in Herrin until her retirement. She was a hardworking lady who was still a member of the International Ladies Garment Worker’s Union. She was a member of HurricaneMemorialBaptistChurch in Herrin.

Lillian had a keen sense of humor and had a clever nature. She enjoyed caring for those in need and sewing.

Survivors include-

Daughter- Linda Halley and husband Chuck of Herrin

Son- Gerald “Bub” Prather of Herrin

Eight Grandchildren:

Charlotte Anderson

Numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Donna Bigler, son- Richard Fogle, brothers- John, Kenneth, Earl and James Jacobs and sister- Maxine Poyner.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 27, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at PleasantGroveCemetery in Paulton. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Friday at the funeral home.
